(UPDATE) TV Patrol presenter Bernadette Sembrano said on Thursday that she had tested positive for COVID-19.
Sembrano admitted that she was shocked when she learned of her RT-PCR test result.
“I just wanted to let you know that I tested positive for COVID. Nagulat din po ako. Kasi wala akong nararamdaman at all. I actually feel healthy. Symptoms of wala-pong. Pero meron kaming mandatory RT-PCR test its function, so when it came out, nawindang din ako, ”she said in a 2-minute clip on Instagram.
Sembrano also reminded the public that not all COVID-19 patients are bedridden or have no symptoms.
“I go out to enlighten my love with me. Kadalasan an iniisip natin pag COVID yun pong mga pasyenteng mahina an katawan na may tubo, nangangayayat, inuubo, ”she said.
“Pero marami po ang kagaya ko na asymptomatic. Asymptomatic feeling mo wala kayong sakit. Wala kayong COVID and patuloy na nakikihalobilo kasama ang ibang tao. Yun po ang nakakatakot kasi, we can endanger the lives of those around us and the lives of those close to us.
The reporter also encouraged the public to get vaccinated.
“Magpa-vaccinate na rin tayo. I still believe we can thrive and outsmart the virus. Alam naman natin yung gagawin natin e. Nakalusot pero sa wa ng Diyos na-test agad and nakapag-isolate agad, ”Sembrano added.
“Please practice health protocols because we don’t just do it to protect ourselves, we do it to protect our loved ones.”
Amid the pandemic, Sembrano also reiterated that the real enemy is the virus, saying, “Sa panahon ngayon, hindi natin kaaway ang isa’t isa. Ang kaaway natin COVID. I hope we can fight this together.
On Wednesday evening, Julius Babao said he, Karen Davila and Alvin Elchico would temporarily take over as presenters on ABS-CBN News’ flagship program while Sembrano, de Castro and Omaga-Diaz would undergo self-quarantine.
