Veteran radio and television personality Boyet Javelona Sison died on Black Saturday, April 16. He was 58 years old.
Sison had undergone surgery on April 14. Two days before his surgery, Sison had gone live on social media asking for prayers from his friends and followers. “I’m nervous and scared.”
On April 13, Sison wrote on Facebook that his large intestine was blocked based on a CT scan.
Sison was one of the hosts of the revamped “TV Patrol” segment in November 2021.
The bubbly sports host replaced Kim Atienza in the news program Kapamilya, where he hosted the section entitled “Alam N’yo Ba?”
But Sison was more popular in the sport after becoming the former longtime presenter of “Fastbreak” on DZMM and “Hardball” on ANC.
“With great sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved friend, Boyet Sison, who has long been the voice of URCC. You will always be in our hearts and will be remembered beautifully. We ask the family of l ‘URCC and everyone please include Boyet Javelona Sison and his family in your prayers,’ URCC Global wrote on Facebook.
Gretchen Ho thanked Sison for his encouraging messages, adding that she will miss him.
” I can not believe it. Today is another reminder of how short and fleeting life is. You were always one of the nicest people in the newsroom, Dad B, even when I was new, especially since I was new.
“You have always spoken with such passion about sport, food and music. I remember you sharing stories of your weekend getaways to the Salcedo market and how you occasionally sneak in time at a DJ gig. I’m glad you had the chance to show more of that side of you to the world before you passed away, even if it was mostly via FB live during the pandemic.
“Thank you for all your advice, for all the encouraging messages & for inspiring us with your different passions. You’ve always made sure people know you care. Rest in power, Papa B. You will be missed. Play us some music up there,” Ho said.
Days before undergoing surgery, Sison gave an update on his condition to his friends and followers.
Sison said the thought of having major surgery really scared her.
