Carlos Orduz can hopefully laugh it off after surviving one of the most terrifying moments in live sports TV history.
Orduz, a reporter for ESPN Colombia, was on a panel for ESPN FC Radio and was sitting with his arms crossed on Tuesday when one of the walls on the set collapsed, throwing him violently face down against the desk.
The show went commercial as her colleagues immediately expressed concern for her well-being.
Orduz miraculously walked away uninjured, and after watching the video below multiple times (we don’t recommend doing that!), we don’t even know how this is possible.
“To those who wrote to me and greeted me about the accident last night, I must tell you that I am fine, thank God, after the medical visit, the respective examinations, any problem has been ruled out , only a bruise and a blow to the nose (no fracture). Greetings and thank you,” Orduz tweeted, translated by Sports Illustrated’s Jimmy Traina.
We can’t imagine how scary this must have been for Orduz and his colleagues – luckily he’s fine. For ESPN, however, it’s no laughing matter as this now lighthearted incident could have easily turned into a tragedy.
