Show features families learning landscaping principles that can create beautiful gardens while protecting Florida’s waterways
LAKE MARY, Fla., June 23, 2022 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) – The TV series, “Flip My Florida Yard” – with a season of 10 episodes of half-hour shows – aims to teach homeowners how to “rock” their yard from ordinary to extraordinary using natural, landscaping principles specific to the Florida and water efficient. Created by Crawford Entertainment in partnership with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and the Florida-Friendly Landscaping Program at the University of Florida’s IFAS Extension, “Flip My Florida Yard” features professionals of design transforming courtyards into attractive and sustainable residential landscapes in just eight hours.
“Most Floridians don’t know how to protect our natural resources. This series is meant to show you how you can make a difference starting in your own backyard,” said Chad Crawford, Emmy Award-winning creator and host of “Flip My Florida Yard.” “The mission of this series is to show Florida homeowners how they can make minor changes to their landscaping routine that can add up and really help our state.”
Owners can apply HERE by filling out an application and creating a short video featuring their garden, family and story. The producers of “Flip My Florida Yard” will select 10 lucky families from across the state to participate in the show. “When casting the families, we looked at geographic location, family dynamics, ethnic diversity, and human-interest story angles – but most importantly, we looked for people interested in our show’s mission who would be inspired to become passionate advocates of environmentally responsible landscaping,” said Crawford.
Episodes are fast-paced, fun and informative as experts explain the principles of Florida-friendly landscaping that call for locating the right plant in the right place, attracting native wildlife, managing pests responsibly, water efficiently, fertilize appropriately, and reduce stormwater runoff to protect Florida’s lakes, rivers, streams, springs, and the second-longest coastline in the United States.
Based at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Fla., and led by Director Esen Momol, the Florida-Friendly Landscaping Program is a 29-year partnership between UF/IFAS and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, which sponsors the television series.

Season 2 of “Flip My Florida Yard” is scheduled to premiere July 24, 2022 on PBS in select Florida markets.
