Game time set for Sooners’ Red River Showdown against Texas
Maybe things will be different once OU-Texas is a Southeastern Conference game instead of a Big 12 battle.
But for now, the Sooners’ annual reunion with the Longhorns at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, scheduled for Oct. 9, will begin again at 11 a.m., the Big 12 announced Monday.
This will be the 12th time in 14 years that the Red River Showdown will start this morning. The 2010 and 2017 games started at 2:30 p.m.
The Sooners (4-0, 1-0 Big 12) have won the last three meetings with the Longhorns and the last two regular season meetings. OU defeated Texas in the 2018 Big 12 Championship Game.
OU won last year’s game 53-45 in four overtimes.
The Sooners hit the road for the first time this season Saturday to face Kansas State (2:30 p.m., Fox).
OU and Texas are expected to leave for the SEC in time for the 2025 season, or sooner, after agreeing in July to join the conference.

Chiefs sign former All-Pro receiver Josh Gordon
The Kansas City Chiefs are signing former All-Pro wide receiver Josh Gordon, who was recently reinstated by the NFL after violating its drug and performance-enhancing substance policies.
Gordon’s agents Eric Dounn and Matt Leist have confirmed that Gordon is traveling to Kansas City on Monday and plans to join the practice squad. He is expected to join the active roster as soon as he finds out.
“Time to get to work,” Gordon tweeted later Monday with a link to the Chiefs’ account.
Gordon, 30, was one of the league’s dynamic players early in his career at Cleveland, where he led the league with 1,646 yards during the 2013 season. But he soon found himself entangled in problems off the field, resulting in six suspensions over a six-year period, including five for some form of drug addiction.
