We don’t have to worry about New Amsterdam being canceled at this time. The NBC series has already been renewed for a fifth season. But will that be the end of this Tuesday night drama? Will New Amsterdam get a renewal at the start of the sixth season? Stay tuned.
A medical drama, the New Amsterdam The TV show stars Ryan Eggold, Janet Montgomery, Freema Agyeman, Jocko Sims and Tyler Labine, with recurring Michelle Forbes, Sandra Mae Frank, Shiva Kalaiselvan and Chloe Freeman. Dr Max Goodwin (Eggold) is a caring physician whose goal is to fix a failing medical system and provide exceptional care to those who need it most. He inspires (almost) everyone around him and will stop at nothing to breathe new life into the understaffed, underfunded and underrated New Amsterdam Medical Center. Those who work with Goodwin include Dr. Lauren Bloom (Montgomery), the head of the ER; oncologist Dr Helen Sharpe (Agyeman); cardiovascular surgeon Dr Floyd Reynolds (Sims); and psychiatrist Dr Iggy Frome (Labine). In season four, after a difficult year, it’s a new chapter in the characters’ lives, all focused on finding more joy. It may not be easy with the addition of Dr Veronica Fuentes (Forbes) to the team. In an effort to help turn around the overburdened and underfunded hospital, his first task is to demolish all the progressive programs Max has put in place..
Ratings are usually the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the scores, the better the chances of survival. This chart will be updated as new rating data becomes available.
Update of 24/11: You can see the notes from the last night in context.
To note: If you don’t see the updated chart, try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: Season three of New Amsterdam on NBC averaged 0.46 among 18-49 year olds and 3.62 million viewers.
To note: These are the final national rankings including all live and same day views and DVR playback (until 3:00 a.m.). Early Affiliate Quick Reviews (Ratings) are marked with an “*”. While these numbers do not include time-lapse or streaming viewing, they are a very good indicator of a show’s performance, especially compared to others on the same channel. There may be other economic factors involved in the fate of a show, but generally the highest rated series are renewed and the lower rated ones are canceled.
