Tennessee’s basketball game against Texas Tech in the Jimmy V Classic on December 7 begins at 7 p.m. EST and will be televised by ESPN.
Details of the double-show at Madison Square Garden in New York City were announced on Wednesday. Syracuse will face Villanova late in the game, at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN.
Tennessee have only faced Texas Tech once in basketball, losing in 1953. Rick Barnes is no stranger, however, with a 33-4 record against Tech in his run as a head coach in Texas. Adams was hired at Texas Tech in April to replace Chris Beard, who moved to Texas to take over.
The Vols were scheduled to play Gonzaga in the Jimmy V Classic last season, before the COVID pandemic moved the event out of New York City.
The game was then played in Indianapolis, at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, but the Vols pulled back after a COVID outbreak within the program forced the cancellation of the first two weeks of the regular season schedule.
Tennessee performed in New York twice during the Barnes era, first at the Barclays Center Classic in November 2015, and then at the NIT Season Tip-Off in November 2018. Both events took place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
