Amazon is the latest company to want to launch its own TVs. The e-commerce giant could launch an Amazon-branded TV as early as October, according to a new report. The first Amazon TV model will not be an in-house design. But Amazon is also pursuing an original design as part of its TV ambitions.

Amazon already sells various Fire-branded media players that can connect to any TV, allowing users to access Amazon’s streaming service and other similar devices. Devices like the Fire TV Stick and the Fire TV Cube are very popular with consumers, competing with devices like Google Chromecast and Apple TV. They are relatively easy to use and very affordable, with Amazon offering a lot of deals on its Fire products.
It’s unclear why Amazon would want to sell Amazon-branded TVs. But the move would help Amazon compete with more traditional TV makers like Samsung and LG. On the other hand, many companies have started to manufacture televisions in recent years. It’s not just conventional TV manufacturers that sell new TV models every year.
Selling a TV running the same operating system as Fire TV products can give Amazon access to another source of revenue. Smart TVs are often criticized for the large amount of user data they collect. This information can be used for advertising purposes. Additionally, an Amazon TV would make Amazon the gateway to streaming content from competing services. This is only speculation, however, as there is nothing official about this Amazon TV rumor.
What we know about the first generation of Amazon TV
According to To Business intern, Amazon is about to launch its televisions in the United States. Companies like TCL could design and manufacture the first model for Amazon. The retailer is planning its original design, but it’s unclear when this version will arrive.
Amazon TV will measure between 55 inches and 75 inches, according to the report. Smart TV features will also include support for Alexa. The voice assistant is an essential part of the Amazon gadget experience.
The Amazon TV wouldn’t be the first TV to run the Fire TV operating system out of the box. Insignia and Toshiba devices already offer this functionality. This means that you no longer need to buy a Fire TV Stick or a Fire TV Cube. Or consider similar devices from the competition.
On that note, it’s unclear how much the new Amazon TV will cost. Amazon’s current Fire TV line starts at $ 49.99 (Fire TV Stick 4K) and goes up to $ 519.99 (Toshiba 55-inch TV). Interestingly, the price of the Fire TV Cube is relatively close to that of the Insignia Fire TV. That’s $ 119.99 versus $ 199.99.
These are the usual retail prices of these devices, before any discounts. Amazon typically has deals on its Fire TV media players, and TVs with built-in Fire TV support get plenty of discounts as well. For example, at the time of this writing, the Fire TV Stick costs just $ 39.99, while the Insignia Fire TV costs $ 149.99.
