Following the streaming service’s recent deal with a video game adaptation production company, the upcoming Life is Strange TV series could premiere on Amazon Prime Video.
Amazon Studios New Original
According to Deadline, Amazon Studios has entered into a “first look deal” with production company dj2 Entertainment. In a nutshell, this implies that Amazon will get first dibs on all dj2 Entertainment projects, which will obviously lead to their accessibility on Prime Video once they are completed.
So how does Life Is Strange fit into all of this? The company, which co-produced Sonic the Hedgehog, has a variety of video game IPs to convert into TV shows and movies, including Life is Strange, Little Nightmares, It Takes Two, Disco Elysium and others.
Fans of the choice game were first made aware of a television adaptation in 2016, with dj2 Entertainment acquiring the production rights in 2017. Since then, little information regarding the program has been released except of the revelation that singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes has been tapped to create the series’ music and serve as executive producer.
Plot News
Video game adaptations seem to be all the rage in Hollywood right now, with many well-known and beloved gaming IPs being or soon to be adapted. In addition to American McGee’s recently announced Alice TV show, two of Naughty Dog’s IPs, Uncharted and The Last of Us, are getting film and TV adaptations, as is PlayStation Studios title Ghost of Tsushima, which is also getting a movie adaptation.
