
The popular American TV show “Suits”, produced by Aaron Korsh, is getting a high-end Arabic remake to air on popular West Asian pay-TV and satellite streaming service Orbit Showtime Network (OSN) and broadcaster Egyptian UMS.
To develop the Arabic remake of the program, NBCUniversal Formats, a subsidiary of Universal Studio Group, collaborated with Cairo-based media production companies TVision and OSN, as well as Egypt’s UMS. The first two seasons, totaling 30 episodes, began filming in January. The Arabic-language “Suits” are set to premiere on OSN and its Watchit streaming app across Western Asia, commonly known as the Middle East, during the region’s upcoming Ramadan TV season, which begins April 2.
“‘Suits’ is one of the most popular television programs in the world, and we are pleased to adapt it for Middle Eastern consumers and to collaborate again with our colleagues at TVision,” said Enrique Guillen, vice-president Executive President of Commercial Strategy and International Development at Universal Studio Group.
In the United States, “Suits” ended its nine-season run in 2019 after 134 episodes, two remakes (in Korea and Japan), a slew of overseas broadcasters and a royal wedding that made the show actress Meghan Markle a global family figure. .
The tale of Manhattan’s first corporate law firm, headed by famed Harvey Specter, played by Gabriel Macht, is told in “Suits.” Rick Hoffman, Katherine Heigl and Sarah Rafferty also appear in the original program.
The original was produced for USA Network by UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, and Hypnotic Films & Television.
Asser Yassin (“Messages From The Sea”) plays Harvey, Ahmed Dawood (“Sons of Rizk”) plays Mike, Saba Mubarak (“Amira”) plays Jessica, Reem Mostafa plays Donna, Tara Emad plays Rachel, and Mohamed Shahin plays Louis in the Arabic adaptation “Suits”.
