In the first episode of the Halo TV series. The first words out of Master Chief’s mouth were, “Silver Team, get involved.
But what is Silver Team? Who’s on it? Was Silver Team in the game or in the books?
We’ve got all the answers below, straight from the big wigs of 343 business sectors.
The Silver Timeline
Money is a theme of this TV show. In a series of posts on the official Halo Waypoint website, operated by Microsoft and 343 Industries, subtly titled “Silver Debrief” we are told that:
‘Silver’ is the name of Spartan’s central fireteam and, of course, a nod to the ‘silver screen’ too – naturally the name stuck. The Silver Timeline is a unique vision of Halo universe that contains and embraces many key elements of the core canon that spanned the past two decades, but with relevant contextual and narrative details that appropriately (and necessary) diverge from the storytelling opportunities presented by the television medium and our collaboration with creators partners.
Have we ever met any of the Silver Team members in the games or the books? In this same Silver Debrief article, A new startcommunity writer Alex Wakeford responds as follows:
Spartan designations, backgrounds, and names were taken from our internal documentation for the Spartan-II program, though I can’t reveal what their counterparts do (or don’t do) in-game and book stories. , for the moment, on pain of death.
So we know that Silver Team is the central spartan squadand they do probably have equivalents in games or books. But we don’t know who they are yet.

Silver Team Members
Silver Team is introduced in the first episode, and you can see their names and call signs on Master Chief’s HUD. But if you have poor streaming quality or poor eyesight, members are John(Master Chief)-117, Rice-028, Kai-125, and Vannak-134. Here’s what (little) we know about them.
John (Master Chief)-117
The man who needs no introduction, Master Chief, leader of the Spartans.
Rice-028
Riz prefers dual-wielding guns and clearly has an antenna on his armor, presumably for communication purposes.
Kai-125
Kai wields a sniper in the first episode.
Vannak-134
Vannak seems to have bulkier armor than the others.
Does his use of a pole here indicate a propensity for melee weapons?
That’s all we know for now!
